Postpartum Recovery

I feel like there is always so much prepping, and planning for labor and the arrival of baby, that oftentimes we moms go unnoticed. When in reality, preparing for postpartum for ourselves is just as important as prepping for the baby!

I’ve gone through postpartum 3 times now, and there are so many basic items that are detrimental to a mom’s recovery. Also, for transparency, I had all vaginal births! My recommendations of products are based upon my own personal recovery from vaginal births. Hope you are able to find a product you think you’d need for recovery, and realize your healing matters too!

I used nipple cream RELIGIOUSLY with my 1st postpartum. My nipples cracked and bled so badly when I began breastfeeding. If you’re wanting to try breastfeeding, I definitely recommend this one! Also, I used a little of this cream on my eczema patches too. It works so well for cracked, dry skin!

It goes without saying, if you have a vaginal birth, you’re going to be pretty sore down there. I loved Earth Mama’s Perineal Spray more than the witch hazel pads. It felt cooling and I felt instant relief. 10/10 would recommend!

When you’re surviving in postpartum, you’re going to be living in depends the first couple weeks, or longer depending on your recovery. Definitely recommend buying a large pack!

OK another thing I wasn’t prepared for was that first bowel moment postpartum. Whyyyy is it the scariest thing in the world?! BUT I definitely recommend a stool softener each day until you have your first bowel, because it’ll help so much and makes it less scary.

I’ll never forget the first time I went pee after having my first born. I literally screamed because it burned so bad. No one told me about the peri bottle’s majestic powers! Get one, and every time you go to the bathroom, USE it! Spray it gently on your stitches if you have them. Your vagina is going to be so thankful!
